About Elmhurst College

Elmhurst College is a comprehensive private liberal arts college in Elmhurst, which is a suburb of Chicago located in DuPage and Cook Counties, in the US state of Illinois, with a population of over 43 000 inhabitants, according to the 2006 census estimate.

Elmhurst College was established in 1871, with the help of Jennie and Thomas Bryan, who gave land in Elmhurst, to the German Evangelical Synod of the Northwest. The college first started as Elmhurst Proseminary, and it was renamed several times before adopting its current name, in 1923, when it became a four-year college for men, women being first enrolled in 1930.

Elmhurst currently offers its students bachelor's degrees and master's degrees, and has approximately 2,670 undergraduate students and 230 graduate students enrolled.

Athletics

Elmhurst College's athletic teams are known as the Elmhurst Bluejays and they compete in 18 sports, for both men and women, in NCAA Division III College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW). Their distinctive colors are blue and white.
